PL is the heart and soul of WRS. It forms the foundation of what we do, why we do it, informing our future directions. It drives our school, placing teacher quality at the centre of learning.

Professional learning encompasses a range of areas for ESES. It will be focusing on the priority areas of

  • Assistive or Augmentative Technology or software as a vehicle for students to access the curriculum, and
  • The Provision of support and adjustments to learning programs to allow students with a communication delay or disability to achieve curriculum outcomes.

Professional learning aims to build capacity and support to ensure teacher quality and consistency of practice, assist beginning teachers as well as mainstream teachers and teachers that work within special schools in understanding the teaching pedagogies relevant to improving outcomes for students with special needs.

A number of agencies and organisations also provide professional learning opportunities specific to their cohort. See Networks
