On 24th of May 2017, William Rose School had three different presentations for our term 2 SDD.
Gurpreet Randhawa and Suzie Cash, presened on the school plan for 2018-2020.
Jill Hellemans, Behaviour Analyst and Special Educator, PGDC, MSpED, BCBA presented an insightful and engaging topic on Effective classroom environment to enable learning. This covered many topics that was met with enthusiasm and gave the staff a wonderful baseline to start term 2 with. It covered many topic that teachers often wrestle with at school, such as bribes and reinforcements, structured and unstructured classroom environments, teacher led and student led classrooms.
Halinda School came to present on TEACCH program that has seen great success after implementation at school. This insightful presentation gave teachers an understanding of how the TEACCH program could work within the school and how successful it has been. A big thank you to Halinda school for sharing with us this program and giving the time up to up-skill other teachers in the SSP network.

Midazolam Training

On the 29th of March 2017, Norm Spalding visited William Rose School to conduct professional learning on the use and application of midazolam. This PL was open and invitations was directed towards ATSOs, SLSOs, and Teachers.

Report Writing

On the 22/03/2017 Sarah Galdes and Kirsty Howard, conducted a PL on report writing. This was to give staff a refresher course so that teachers can begin report writing for term 2. On the 17th of September the staff at William Rose had their staff development day.
Suzie Cash presented on the use of switches and its effectiveness in the classroom. She demonstrated different techniques that would maximising student engagement and student outcomes with the use of switches and thus empowering students to be independent through communication. It was an engaging and challenging presentation for all staff.
Genevieve Grace and Jae Moon presented on PECS and how to use them effectively. They outlined the PECS format and how to engage students in PECS use. It was a practical and informative session where many teachers were inspired to use PECS with students where appropriate.

Project Organisation

On the 14th of September, Trevor Townsend presented on the topic of project organisation. It was a challenging and engaging session in which many teachers had questions about organising projects.
